Enrollment by Course
Definitions
- Headcount: Represents the number of distinct individuals who have enrolled in any community college course or program during a specified period.
- Enrollment: The number of students in the class. Students may be enrolled in more than one course and would be counted in each course for the term.
- Retention: The rate or count of students retained in a class at the end of the semester. Retention rate = (A,B,C,D,F,N,P,I)/(A,B,C,D,F,P,N,I,W).
- Fall to Spring Persistence: The percentage of students who enrolled in the Fall term and returned to college the following Spring term. Excludes students who were awarded.
- Success: The rate or count of students who received a passing grade of A, B, C, or P at the end of the semester. Success rate = (A,B,C,P)/(A,B,C,D,F,P,N,W,I).
- Percentage Point Gap (PPG): PPG is a method used to measure disproportionate impact. PPG values are computed by taking the difference between a subgroup’s (DSPS) success rate and the IVC overall success rate.
- Example; for Fall 2019, DSPS had a success rate of 67.6% while IVC overall had a success rate of 71.7%
- 67.6% - 71.7% = -4.1 percentage point gap.
